I have lived in a temperate rain forest for several years now. The rainy season lasts from the middle of March to the middle of August. Each morning, I walk my dogs around this four acre property and am amazed at the diversity of life that awaits my discovery. This week has seen lots of rain, and I have really enjoyed looking at all of the different mushrooms and fungi that are everywhere. I find all the shapes and colors very interesting - hope you do too.
About 10" of snow fell yesterday and last night here on the mountain. Beautiful, but also dangerous if you have to travel anywhere. The only place I have to be today is out in the pottery shop, but it will probably be after lunch before I can shovel my way out to the sidewalk. The pond is almost completely frozen over and the old outhouse has drifts over two feet around the base. A lovely winter wonderland - man it's cold!
Snow has been falling on Cedar Mountain since 8:00 am today. The pottery shop is very cold but progress is being made to get it up and running. It has definitely been a labor of love restoring this old garage and apartment building into an inspiring studio for pottery making. One of my favorite things is sitting up there working at my wheel while looking out over the little pond - absolutely peaceful.
It has taken a little over a year to reach this point. A great deal of work had to be done to the house before I could even think about the pottery building. With each day however, more things get accomplished and I am able to now begin the work I came here to do - make things from clay.
I have been a potter for over twenty years and a student of ikebana since 2011...
